August 2005
AIMS Logistics and AIMS Express employees truly stepped up in an effort to help victims who lost nearly everything as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Numerous donation drives and fund-raisers were conducted to help the hurricane victims. As best said by AIMS Logistics president, Dave Nelson and AIMS Express President, Jeff Owen, “. . . we are companies of conscience. Our employees are caring and compassionate, and always willing to come to the aid of those in need.”
AIMS Express to the Rescue--
When AIMS was contacted by a philanthropist who wanted to anonymously donate half a million dollars to the hurricane victims, Jeff Owen, AIMS Express President, quickly arranged for six trucks to deliver food and supplies. Two trucks containing food (totaling $150,000), two trucks of water, and three trucks of 911 equipment were delivered to Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes. The delivery was the first delivery of outside food aid into Jefferson Parish by any agency. AIMS Express Employees Lose their Homes to Katrina-- Hurricane Katrina had a direct impact on the lives of several AIMS Express employees and their families. Six drivers based in the New Orleans area lost virtually everything. Determined to help their fellow colleagues in a time of need, AIMS Express co-workers immediately initiated efforts to relocate these families to help them get back on their feet. Executives and employees from AIMS Logistics and AIMS Express donated monies, furniture, and clothing to their colleagues who fell victim to the storm.
